What is “funds availability”?
Funds availability refers to the time it takes for a deposit to become available for withdrawal. In other words, it has to do with when you get paid.
Your merchant account with Chase must be connected to a business banking account. This means a transfer is required between Chase and another financial institution before your funds are deposited and made available.
When, after a deposit is sent, are funds made available?
When your funds will be available depends on the type of funding you have. Here are the types of funding and what to keep in mind.
Standard funding
Merchants with a non-Scotiabank account will receive standard funding which is 48 to 72 hours from the time of settlement before 2 a.m. ET
Expedited funding
Merchants with a Scotiabank account will receive expedited funding, meaning deposits will be received by the next business day if settlement is completed before 2 a.m. ET
Weekends and holidays
Funding does not take place on weekends or holidays. Deposits will be received the next business day
What does “funds on hold” mean?
A funds hold is a temporary restriction on the availability of funds. The funds are held by Chase for review, usually to protect from risk or fraud.
Why are my funds on hold?
Here are the most common reasons why your funds might be placed on hold:
- Bank account issues preventing funds transfer
- Unusual transaction or deposit amounts
- Pending risk or credit termination
We will reach out to you if we need any documents such as invoices to release your funds.
How long will my funds be on hold?
The time it takes for a funds hold to be lifted depends on the situation. Usually, your funds will be made available in a few business days. Make sure you look out for any communications from Chase in the meantime.
Chase will send an encrypted email to request for invoices or proof to your email address on file. Please make sure that we have your most up-to-date email on file and remember to check your spam.
Why would I experience delayed funding?
Some reasons for missing or delayed funding include:
- The settlement cut-off time was missed
- The deposit was rejected
- There is a funds hold on the account
- The batch was suspended
